What Is a T69 Floor Type Milling And Boring Machine?
A floor type milling and boring machine is different from a conventional machining center mainly because of the way the machine accommodates large and irregular workpieces.
In many machining applications, the workpiece itself is too large, too heavy or too long to be moved repeatedly through different machines. A floor type configuration allows the workpiece to remain in a fixed machining area while the column, headstock, ram and spindle system travel to the required position.
This arrangement is particularly useful when a component has several machining surfaces or when milling and boring operations need to be completed in relation to the same machining datum.
The T69 Series combines milling and boring functions with drilling and other machining operations. After the workpiece has been properly clamped and aligned, several operations can be completed without transferring the part to another machine.

This matters more than it may seem.
For a small component, moving from one machine to another may take only a few minutes. For a large metal component, the process can involve a crane, lifting fixtures, operators, alignment equipment, measurement and a second round of setup work.
Reducing these transfers can therefore improve both production efficiency and process consistency.

Traveling Column Structure for Flexible Large-Part Machining
The T69 series uses a traveling-column machining arrangement.
Instead of requiring the entire workpiece to move through the machining area, the machine structure travels along the working direction. This is useful for long workpieces because the available machining length can be configured through the column travel.
The current T69 range provides column travel from 4,000 mm on the T6913D to 10,000 mm on the T6926, with extended travel available depending on the configuration.
This gives manufacturers more flexibility when dealing with workpieces that differ significantly in length.
For example, a company may process several types of machine bases or housings where the width and height remain within a similar range but the overall length changes from one order to another. A traveling-column arrangement allows the machining system to cover a larger working area without requiring the workpiece itself to be repositioned for every machining section.
The practical benefit is not simply a larger machine footprint. It is the ability to maintain a stable workpiece setup while the machining head reaches different areas of the component.

High-Precision Transmission Components
Machining accuracy depends on more than the CNC controller or spindle alone.
The transmission system, guideways, machine structure, thermal behavior and overall rigidity all influence how accurately the machine can position the cutting tool.
The T69 series uses precision ball screws and linear guide components in its transmission system. The machine structure is designed with attention to rigidity and vibration control, helping the traveling column maintain stable movement during machining.
For buyers evaluating a floor type milling and boring machine, this part of the machine should not be overlooked.
A large machine may have long travel distances, but long travel also means that the transmission system must remain consistent across the entire working range.
For this reason, the relationship between:
guideway design,
ball screw transmission,
column movement,
ram movement,
spindle positioning,
structural rigidity
is more important than looking at any single specification in isolation.
